2003-2009: CEO of Vogt-Schild Medien AG in Solothurn, Switzerland and of the Vogt-Schild Media Group
The Vogt-Schild Media Group includes the “Solothurner Zeitung” and its three split editions: the “Grenchner Tagblatt”, the “Langenthaler Tagblatt” and the “Berner Rundschau”. The house also has five weekly newspapers in its stable. The group’s magazine arm produces special-interest magazine “wir eltern” (for parents) and three technical titles, “Chemische Rundschau”, “CHemie plus” and “SwissPlastics”. All four publications are market leaders in their field. The magazine division is also home to the group’s distribution (subscription management and collection) and advertising sales units.
Vogt-Schild Druck AG, a further division of the Vogt-Schild Media Group which is based in Derendingen, Switzerland, is a classic rotary and sheet offset print facility. Around 100 magazine titles are printed, finished and dispatched from here. Non-periodical printed business matter accounts for a third of the facility’s volume.
As CEO of the Vogt-Schild Media Group, Christian Müller is also chairman of the board of local private radio station Radio 32 (in which Vogt-Schild holds an equity stake of around 40%) and a member of the board of Aarau-based Mittelland Zeitungsdruck AG, in which Vogt-Schild holds a 25% stake.
2000-2003: mandate-based collaborations with Vogt-Schild Medien AG, initially with the company’s magazine publications and later additionally with its newspaper titles, too.
1978-1989 and 1993-1998: employed by Ringier, Switzerland’s biggest media group
In his long tenure with the Ringier Group, Christian Müller spent eight years as editor-in-chief of the “Luzerner Neuste Nachrichten” (LNN), was Vice-President Magazines at the group’s Zurich head office and was general manager of the Bern-based daily “Der Bund” (including responsibility for local Radio Förderband). He also served as general manager of Ringier CR in Prague in the Czech Republic, at a time when Ringier was publishing two daily newspapers and some ten weekly magazines there and was also operating a major printing facility in Ostrava; and, during his secondment to the Czech Republic, he further served as chairman of the supervisory board of PNS, the Czech national press distribution organisation.
1990-1992: CEO of this publisher of specialist magazines and its affiliated rotary offset printing facility, which belonged to the German-based Vogel publishing group
1969-1978: employed (after five years working as a freelance journalist and editor during his studies) at the Badener Tagblatt, going on to serve as head of regional news, a member of the editorial executive committee, a member of executive management and personal deputy to the publisher.
The Vogt-Schild Medien AG publications portfolio includes "wir eltern", the Swiss market leader (by far) among parenting magazines.

Christian Müller retired from his position as CEO of the Vogt-Schild Media Group at the end of May 2009. To mark his farewell, his staff produced three special pages of the “Solothurner Zeitung”. The pages (which are in German) can be viewed or printed out here.
