- Studied history and constitutional law at the University of Zurich, subsequently earning a doctorate; further studies in business administration at St. Gallen University.
- 25 years of active journalism (reports, columns and editorials), editing and serving as editor-in-chief on various Swiss daily and weekly newspapers, together with numerous photo features from the Americas (from Alaska to Argentina), Africa, Australia/New Zealand, China and elsewhere.
- 20 years of publishing management, company management and serving as CEO and on boards of directors (for print media, printing operations, media distribution companies and private radio stations).
- A three-year executive secondment abroad, serving as general manager of the biggest publishing house in Prague (Czech Republic) producing two daily newspapers and various weekly magazines, and as chairman of the supervisory board of PNS, the Czech national press distribution organisation.
- Five years of international management consulting with his own consulting company (commwork AG).
- Numerous specialist seminars and international congresses (WAN, ifra, comdays and more).
- Lecturer at the Swiss Marketing and Advertising Institute (SAWI), specialising in editorial management and product design.
His
leisure-time activities include reading, writing,
travel, flying and photography.
In earlier years he enjoyed climbing (various Swiss ascents and 4 000-metre peaks), kayaking (including Lake Inari and the Tenojoki in Finland and river-rafting (including the Tara in Montenegro, the Kaitum in Sweden and the Colorado in the USA).
He also held a Swiss private pilot’s licence (and PPL validation for South Africa) from 1989 to 2002, when his various flying activities included serving as pilot-in-command throughout Southern Africa and crossing the Atlantic as co-pilot in a single-engined aircraft.
Christian Müller was born on 12 May 1944. He is married (to his second wife) and has an adult son and daughter from his first marriage. He divides his time between Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic.
